Number 1 in a series of digital prints inspired by the book 'The Poetics of Space' by Gaston Bachelard. Layers of memories in times past and present.

Photographed in Venice Italy, after reading 'The Aspern Papers' by Henry James, I made a short film around the house and garden where he often stayed with friends and fellow artists. I created an installation with gauzes and projected the film onto several layers of the gauzes. The ensuing effect produced beautiful, multi-layered images that speak of memories and dream-like interiors and exteriors. Venice's summer, golden Mediterranean light and hidden spaces were a focus and inspiration for this collection.
